Steps To Composting At Home

One easy way to start protecting the environment today is by creating a home composting bin. By collecting bio-degradable materials like Chinet Classic White or Chinet Casuals plates and allowing nature’s natural process to break them down, you will be creating nutrient-rich compost to use in gardening activities around your house. Just follow the steps below to get started!

LOOK FOR SUNLIGHT

Find a sunny spot in your yard to place your bin. Look for a level location with adequate drainage that will allow worms and other small creatures to access the bin and break down the contents inside.

ADD YOUR INGREDIENTS

In addition to torn pieces of Chinet Classic White and Chinet Casuals plates, include things like leftover fruit and vegetable peelings, teabags and grass clippings. You should also include scrunched-up paper and leaves in your compost. DO NOT INCLUDE meat, cooked vegetables, dairy products, dog or cat waste, baby diapers, weeds, or diseased plants. Of course, glass and metals are also NOT appropriate and should be recycled separately.

MIX IT UP

Make sure you add an even amount of wet and dry materials to balance the mixture. Consider including scrunched-up cardboard bits to create air pockets that will keep the mixture healthy.

USE YOUR GREEN THUMB

Once your compost turns spongy and is dark brown, almost black (approximately 6–9 months), it’s ready to scoop out and spread into your flowerbeds to improve the soil. You’ll be delighted with how much more beautiful your flowers will bloom!
