BBQ Side Dishes, Pasta Salad, Grilled Corn, and Watermelon with Mint on Chinet Serving Ware

Summer BBQ season is upon us! I don't know about you, but I absolutely love this time of year. Getting family and friends together to hang out, laugh, play games and grill is one of my favorite things to do. I am always looking for new and delicious BBQ sides to serve with whatever meat we are grilling for the occasion. You can, of course, go with the traditional baked beans and potato salad (which are delicious BBQ sides), but today I am going to share two delicious and incredibly easy BBQ side dish recipe ideas ... mint and sea salt grilled watermelon and garlic herb corn on the cob! I paired these with a delicious pasta salad and broccoli salad and served everything on disposable Chinet® Classic White platters, Chip & Dip Party Trays and square dinner plates.

Grilled Watermelon with Mint

Grilled Watermelon with Mint Close Up

This mint and sea salt grilled watermelon is seriously mouthwatering. It is a delicious twist on your standard watermelon. My family of four devoured an entire watermelon’s worth of this recipe, and here I thought we would have some for all week … insert eye roll here!

Mint and Sea Salt Grilled Watermelon

  • Watermelon
  • Sea salt
  • Fresh mint leaves, chopped (I used sweet mint from my herb garden)

  1. Slice up the watermelon.
  2. Sprinkle both sides of the watermelon with the sea salt.
  3. Grill for about 2-3 minutes each side.
  4. Add a little bit more of the sea salt (don’t over salt).
  5. Garnish both sides of the watermelon slices with the chopped mint leaves.

Grilled Corn on the Cob with Garlic and Herbs

Close Up of Grilled Corn on the Cob with Garlic and Herbs

Corn on the cob is always better soaked in butter, but with this garlic herb butter, you will simply drool over how delicious your corn on the cob tastes. Plus, this garlic herb butter recipe is incredibly easy to make.

Garlic Herb Butter

  • I tub of soft spread or whipped butter
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • Fresh curled parsley, chopped
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Fresh basil, chopped
  • Garlic salt

  1. Microwave the butter (in a microwaveable safe dish) until it is soft enough to stir.
  2. Mince the garlic and add to the butter.
  3. Add in garlic salt to taste.
  4. Finely chop your herbs and stir into the butter.
  5. Spread the butter over your grilled corn on the cob.

You can mix this garlic herb butter recipe up a bit by adding a different variety of fresh herbs. I used the ones I had the most of in my herb garden, and they happened to be a delicious combination!

Pasta Salad, Grilled Corn, and Watermelon with Mint

I was going for an easy arrangement of BBQ sides, so I decided to purchase the pasta salad and broccoli salad at my local grocery store for this go-around - always a great idea if you are in a hurry, but still want to create a delicious sampling of sides. Serve in a Chinet Chip & Dip Party Tray to easily showcase your sides, all in one place.

Square Chinet Plate on Summer BBQ Table

Chinet Classic White square dinner plates are the perfect plate for you summer BBQ sides! Not only can they handle those extra helpings, but they are also eco-friendly and compostable for guilt-free cleanup.
