Build Your Own Big Game Nacho Bar

By: Lindi Haws of Love The Day

It’s the New Year, which means only one thing… the football playoffs are here! And even better, the big game is right around the corner! We love having friends and family over to watch the game and tend to get carried away in the planning of the menu. We always have WAY too much food. So this year we are simplifying. We decided to go with a nacho bar, like the one you see below. Nachos are the perfect football food and by creating a ‘bar’, guests can customize their nachos how they like.

Here are some tips for hosting your own big game watch party with a fantastic nacho bar.

Send invitations for a game day watch party at least two weeks in advance. I am sending out the invitation you see below and thought you may like to use it, too. You can download the free printable invitation here.

Side Note: I am asking each guest (most who are family and close friends) to bring one nacho topping. This will help ease party planning stress, pre-party prep and cost. It’s helpful to list the toppings you would like help with. Toppings can include:

  • Shredded Chicken
  • Steak
  • Cheese
  • Olives
  • Black Beans
  • Corn
  • Pico de Gallo
  • Tomatillo Sauce
  • Salsa
  • Green Onions
  • Guacamole

The week before the party, ensure you have all of your paper products and decor. I always use Chinet® Classic White plates for my football parties because they’re thick, sturdy and can hold up to the messiest of foods—like nachos—without sacrificing any style. Plus, I love how it allows for quick clean up after a long game or party. And the new Chinet® Chip & Dip Trays are PERFECT for a nacho bar. They help separate the toppings, while still providing a clean and stylish look for the table.

I also like to pull together decorations, like party favors and garlands, and hang an oversized ‘touchdown’ backdrop behind the table.

The day of the party, hang your ‘touchdown’ backdrop and garlands and set out decorations to frame your table. Lay down a tablecloth, table runner or football fabric to add some pattern to the table. Then add your Chinet Chip & Dip Trays for the toppings and set out plates and cups. And don’t forget to make sure you have ice for drinks!

As guests arrive, place their toppings in the trays, start making nachos while you watch the big game and enjoy! Be sure to visit me at Love The Day for more party and entertaining ideas that will win big with your guests.

How will you be celebrating the big game in February? We would love to hear about your favorite football traditions or recipes, so share them with us on FacebookInstagram and Twitter.
