Hello from Haeley with Design Improvised! Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to do something a little extra special for the mothers and grandmothers in your life. I have fond memories of helping my mom prepare a special lunch for our grandmother each Mother’s Day. While she was busy in the kitchen, my sister and I ran around the house cleaning and helping set the table! It doesn’t get much better than gathering together for conversation and good food with the people you love.
This Mother’s Day, I wanted to create a stunning look while keeping preparation and cleanup simple. The Chinet® Cut Crystal® collection and inexpensive flowers are the stars of the table with this simple DIY tablescape.
A couple of my favorite entertaining tricks include using a table runner in place of a tablecloth (no ironing!) and having the dessert do double duty as the centerpiece.
When hosting a meal, I like to aim for a mix of store-bought and homemade dishes to minimize my time in the kitchen. This strawberry-topped cake is one of my go-to grocery store items for special occasions—it looks and tastes amazing, and I didn’t have to bake it!
In addition to the cake centerpiece, I sprinkled some faux flowers from the dollar store down the center of the table, along with a few special photos to add a personal touch to our Mother’s Day meal.
I made place card bouquets for each guest by filling Chinet Cut Crystal 14 oz. cups with two of my favorite flowers—stock and baby’s breath. They add a feminine, elegant touch while being inexpensive and readily available at your local grocery store or florist. They are also long-lasting, making them the perfect favor for your guests to take home! See my full, step-by-step tutorial for these place card bouquets here.
For each place setting, Chinet Cut Crystal dinner plates and Chinet Cut Crystal stemless wineglasses add elegance and style without the hassle of dishwashing. I love the combination of Chinet Cut Crystal products with a colorful charger underneath.
Rosé is the perfect Mother’s Day wine and adds another pretty touch of pink to the table. The swirl pattern on the Chinet Cut Crystal stemless wineglasses combined with the rosé creates such a pretty look!
The Chinet Cut Crystal cutlery allows you to have extra cutlery right at the table. Its host-ready container is easy to set out for your guests and even easier to store when your meal is done—simply put the lid back on and store in your pantry.
For a fun DIY touch, I found a simple way to add a floral element to Chinet® Classic White™ dinner napkins by stamping them with celery—yes, celery! It is such a fun and easy technique that really looks like flowers. For the full tutorial, click here.
Well, there you have it! I hope you all have a fabulous Mother’s Day with the special women in your life.
