Tips to Trick Out Your Next Tailgate

By: Lindi Haws of Love The Day

It’s here, it’s finally here! Football season has arrived and I could not be more excited about it. I know I’ve said this before, but college football is my absolute jam. I love the sport, the rivalries, the colors, the food, the parties and of course, the tailgating. In years past, I’ve shared Football Party Food Ideas, FREE Football Printables & Decorations and Football Party Favors to celebrate the season. Today, I'm sharing new ways to use the Chinet® brand products to bring tailgating ideas to life!

I’ll admit, I had never tailgated until I moved to Texas. Can we just talk about football in Texas for a minute!? It’s the absolute BEST. It’s like I finally found my people—people who eat, breathe and sleep football. Tailgating in Texas is next level.

The whole community comes together to celebrate our high school team! Everyone is decked out in spirit gear and the food is a plenty. In true Texas fashion, a few families bring their smokers and smoke meat for the crew while everyone else contributes sides, drinks, snacks and desserts.

I’m typically in charge of the snack station.

I provide Chinet® Classic White™ dinner plates and Chinet Classic White all occasion napkins for the group and enjoy as they load their plates with popcorn, chips & salsa, pretzels, Muddy Buddies, M&Ms and trail mix. And drinks….there are always lots of Diet Cokes and Diet Dr. Peppers to go around.

I know decorating is not typically a huge characteristic of tailgating, but I just can’t help myself! If there is an opportunity to spruce up a space, I say we take it. Am I right?!

For the sake of inspiration, I styled this tailgating spread with generic football colors, but these ideas would look fabulous in any school’s colors.

I filled my trunk with white and green balloons, used green paper fans as a sort of backdrop and used a white crate and galvanized box to bring some height to the spread. I paced galvanized cake stands on the boxes and put the treat-filled glass candy jars on top. I hung a touchdown garland and strung a football party banner across the top of the trunk.

Once you have everything set up to your liking, it’s time for the tailgating to commence! What about you?! Do you like to tailgate? Do you like football? What team do you cheer for? Tell us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter using #MyChinetParty!
