My husband and I love tasting new wines. We really fell in love with wine the first time we visited Wine Country in California on vacation. After our first trip, we quickly booked a return trip within a couple of years because we just couldn’t stay away.
Before kids, we would stop by our local wine shop for their ‘Friday night wine tasting’ to try new varietals and buy interesting new bottles. Enter KIDS, and our attendance at fancy wine tasting events has hit an all-time low. So I decided to surprise my husband with a fun date-night-in, wine tasting for two!
To prepare for our date night, I visited a local wine shop and bought some wine varietals that we don’t try very often. I wanted our evening to be about trying new flavors and wines from countries that we aren’t familiar with. I ended up buying a Gruner Veltliner from Austria, a Verdejo from Spain, and a blend of Garnacha Tintorera and Monastrell from Spain.
The Chinet® Cut Crystal® stemless wine glasses were perfect for our taste test. They are elegant and disposable, which made cleanup easy.
The Chinet® Chip & Dip Party Tray was the perfect container for our yummy wine tasting appetizer spread. We snacked on pecorino cheese, goat’s milk cheese, salami, prosciutto, mixed nuts, rosemary popcorn, and milk and dark chocolate while we tasted our new wine varietals.
I created a fun Wine Tasting Notes printable so that we could keep track of each wine we tried and compare them to each other.
After filling out some basics about the wine, we talked about how it tasted (I included some hints to get our creative juices flowing) and what foods it tasted best with.

Our Wine Tasting for Two date-night-in ended up being such a fun way to spend an evening with my husband and learn about some new varietals of wine. I think next, I’ll be recreating this fun evening with a group of girlfriends... Cheers!
