Easy Fried Rice

Fried rice served on a Chinet Crystal plate

Skip the takeout and make your own restaurant-quality fried rice in a snap—a sugar snap pea, that is!

Say hello to your new favorite homecooked fried rice. This meal cuts all the corners without compromising on flavor or quality. It comes together in under 30 minutes and only requires 10 ingredients—most of which are already in your fridge! Frozen veggies, rotisserie chicken and microwavable rice are the stars of the show and convenient alternatives to other oftentimes tedious ingredients.

While we recommend these ingredients to recreate our fried rice, this recipe is completely customizable based on your family’s dietary preferences and what you have on hand. Sad, forgotten veggies in your crisper? Leftover sauteed proteins? A handful of nuts you’ve been snacking on? They would all be great additions to this medley of flavors and textures.

So crack open the fridge and pantry to see what needs eating and add it to the pan. Thank you, Kasim Hardaway, for this versatile and customizable dinner option!

Ingredients

Steps

  • 1

Microwave rice according to package directions. Spread onto a Chinet Classic® Platter and place in the freezer to cool for 10-15 minutes.

  • 2

Whisk the eggs in a small bowl and set aside.

  • 3

Heat one tablespoon of butter in a large pan over medium heat. Stir in frozen vegetables and garlic powder. Add a pinch of salt and pepper, then cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender. Push the vegetables over to one half of the pan.

  • 4

Melt the other tablespoon of butter in the empty half of the pan. Add the eggs and stir into the butter until scrambled. Mix the scrambled eggs into the vegetables.

  • 5

Add the rice to the pan, then stir it into the eggs and vegetables. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  • 6

Stir in the chicken, soy sauce, sesame oil and green onions.

  • 7

For the restaurant-style “mounded” look, spoon the fried rice into a bowl and gently press down on the rice to pack it firmly into the bowl. Place an inverted plate on top of the bowl, then carefully flip the plate and bowl over simultaneously, pressing the bowl firmly into the plate so they stay together as you flip.

  • 8

Remove the bowl and serve immediately.
