Gender-Neutral Baby Shower Ideas

Some simple touches for pulling off the perfect gender-neutral baby shower!

Spring is here, and I have more than a few friends expecting new babies, so of course I’ve got baby showers on my mind. I love throwing baby showers, especially because as far as color scheme and themes are concerned, pretty much anything goes! Creating a table setting and sitting down with close friends is my favorite way to celebrate, so I created this blue and pink tablescape. It works for either gender, and I think it’s SO fun.

I used Chinet Crystal^® disposable tableware—including plates, wineglasses, and cutlery—to make cleanup easy! I love to add personal touches to a table, so I decided to make personalized, paper placemats with guests’ names on them to go under the plates. I also made this silk floral arrangement to go along with the pink and blue theme. It was quick and easy to throw together, and I love how it looks with the floral table runner.

As far as putting all of the table décor together, I had a navy blue tablecloth and this floral fabric that I had been waiting to use for something special. I quickly cut out a table runner from the floral fabric. I ironed it really well with starch, but otherwise left it untouched—no hem or anything! For parties where I know I will just use a runner once, I prefer to keep my fabrics edges raw so that I can reuse them for other projects later.

Then I ran to the craft store to find the blush scrapbook paper that would become our placemats. They are super easy and add a nice, personal touch to the place settings.

The Chinet Crystal® plates, stemless wineglasses, and cutlery look great with the navy tablecloth and colorful runner as well.

Do you like to do classic pink or blue for a baby shower? I think how you decorate should depend on the style of the person you’re throwing it for, but we can all agree that any expecting mama will love brunching with her friends at a beautiful table!
