Egg Dyeing with Chinet Crystal cups

5 unique ways to make Easter eggs your own

This Easter, shake up your egg dyeing traditions! Traditional dyed Easter eggs are always a hit, but don’t limit yourself to one way to decorate. With a little glitter, shaving cream and paint, your dyed eggs can be the hit of your Easter egg hunt.

Traditional Dye

Supplies:

  • Hard-boiled eggs 
  • Chinet Crystal® 9oz cups 
  • Chinet Crystal® cutlery (spoons) 
  • 1 c. hot water 
  • 1 tsp. white vinegar 
  • Coloring tablets 
  • Chinet Crystal® dinner plates 

Steps:

  1. Combine water and vinegar in bowl. Divide evenly between Chinet Crystal® 9oz cups. 
  2. Add one tablet of dye to each cup.

  3. Once the dye is fully dissolved, submerge a hard-boiled egg into each cup using a spoon.

  4. Keep in the liquid for up to five minutes. The longer the egg is left in the mixture, the more vibrant the color. 
  5. Carefully remove the egg and set aside on a Chinet Crystal® dinner plate to dry.

Glitter & Dye

Supplies:

  • Hard-boiled eggs 
  • Chinet Crystal® 9oz cups 
  • Liquid glue 
  • Chinet Crystal® cutlery (spoons) 
  • Glitter 
  • Chinet Crystal® dinner plates 

Steps

  1. Squirt a thin layer of glue into the bottom of a Chinet Crystal® 9oz cup. 
  2. Drop a hard-boiled egg into the cup and drizzle with more glue. 
  3. Using a plastic spoon, gently turn the egg over a few times to completely coat it with glue.

  4. Pour a good amount of glitter over your glue-covered egg. Using the same spoon, gently turn it over in the cup, and pour even more glitter on top.

  5. Once the egg is fully covered in glitter, use your spoon to gently remove it from the cup and place on your Chinet Crystal® dinner plates to dry. 

Transfer

Supplies:

  • Hard-boiled eggs 
  • Chinet Classic® napkins 
  • Temporary tattoos 
  • Chinet Crystal® dinner plates 

Steps:

  1. Clean and dry hard-boiled eggs with damp Chinet Classic® napkin. 
  2. Remove clear film from transfer paper (or temporary tattoos). 
  3. Transfer design onto egg using a wet, folded napkin.

  4. Press napkin onto egg for 30 seconds before removing transfer. 
  5. Place eggs on a Chinet Crystal® dinner plates to dry.

Paint

Supplies:

  • Hard-boiled eggs 
  • Chinet Crystal® 9oz cups 
  • Paint 
  • Paint brushes 
  • Chinet Crystal® dinner plates

Steps:

  1. Place paint and water in individual Chinet Crystal® cups. 
  2. Place eggs on Chinet Crystal® dinner plates. 
  3. Paint eggs as desired.

  4. Transfer completed eggs to dry on new Chinet Crystal® dinner plates. 

Tie-Dye Shaving Cream

Supplies:

  • Hard-boiled eggs 
  • Shaving cream 
  • Food coloring 
  • Chinet Classic® 16oz bowls 
  • Chinet Crystal® dinner plates 
  • Chinet Crystal® cutlery (spoons) 

Steps:

  1. Fill Chinet Classic® bowls with shaving cream. 
  2. Drop food coloring on top of the shaving cream. Mix and match colors.

  3. Using a Chinet Crystal® spoon, swirl the food coloring into the shaving cream. 
  4. Gently roll hard-boiled eggs in the colored shaving cream.

  5. Place eggs on Chinet Crystal® dinner plates to dry—do not remove the shaving cream from the eggs. 
  6. After 20 minutes, rinse the shaving cream off the eggs and pat dry.
